A vadai (alternatively vada, wada, vade), pronounced 'vah-daa' or 'vah-die', is a savoury snack from Tamil Nadu, shaped like a doughnut and made from lentil or potato.I loved eating this as a snack and especially with the prawns on it, it got a crunchy taste.

Yuki Yaki Buffet

Food for the steam boat pot.

I love going to Yuki Yaki restaurant with my family/friends and been there several times.
Each table in Yuki Yaki is equipped with two in-built stoves for steamboat and teppanyaki and each table could sit about four people but of course you could squeeze one or two more but then everyone paid the same price so why squeeze.

They have a wide selection of food items. BBQ items like half shell scallops, mussels, sea cucumber, salmon, prawns, cuttlefish etc and marinated meat items like beef, chicken, lamb, pork etc. Yong Tau Foo items and fresh vegetables and many more for the steamboat pot.

I tried the DIY ice-cream before and do not want to go for it anymore cos the ice-cream is not really ice-cream and hard to make.

In case you want to know where it is:
Marina Square
6 Raffles Boulevard
#03-210 Marina Square
Singapore 239695
Tel: 6338 9680
Price is about $24 (Please double check their price again as price is right at time of printing only.)

Breakfast at Grand Diamond Hotel, Bangkok

Had this for breakfast during my trip to Bangkok, Thailand. Their dough fritters (also known locally as yu tiao or yew char kway) is different from Singapore. Theirs are the smaller version and tasted just as nice as ours. You can eat them plain or dunk them in soya milk or coffee.
Yummy.

Could not resist taking photo of these lovely sushi when I went to Bangkok, Thailand. Could you believe it, they served them during breakfast. We had international buffet breakfast at Grand Diamond Hotel, Bangkok. The food there are marvellous. We enjoyed our stay in Bangkok, they are indeed a Land of Thousand Smile, the people are very friendly. Lovely place except that I do not like the traffice jam and the dusty road (lol).

Macau Famous Pork Chop Burger

What are all these people queueing for? Well, these people are waiting to buy the most famous bun of Macau -- the Pork Chop Burger of Cafe Tai Lei Loi Kee in Taipa. The bun is crispy and the pork chop is not fatty at all and very tasty.

Every afternoon at 1500 hours sharp the sale started and freezes at exactly the moment when the buns are sold out, which usually means less than one hour later.
This pork chop burger is so well known that this cafe Tai Lei Loi Kee becomes a landmark of Macau, China. Even the bus stop is named after the cafe.

Home Party Singapore Style for Christmas 2006

The food were contributed or made by siblings and myself. Even though we are not christains, was so much fun celebrating by fun eating and enjoying the christmas party and yes,we exchange presents too.

Otak Otak (A small, flat strip of meat paste (usu. fish) wrapped in a banana-leaf strip and roasted) bought from Hougang St 21 hawker centre. Very yummy

Soon Kueh (A Chinese pastry consisting of a sticky translucent skin filled with shredded bamboo shoots or turnip, usually eaten with chilli sauce and sweet sauce.) No, this is not made by anyone of us, was purchased from a local kueh stall. Now I am hungry

Ngoh Hiang (Chinese spring rolls - cooked by eldest sister)

Fried Mee Hoon (Fried Rice vermicelli), cooked by eldest sister.

Glutinous Rice (forgot to put some roast nuts and cut chillis and fried shallots on rice for phototaking). This is cooked by my eldest sister.

Chilli Crabs

Black Pepper Crabs

Yam basket (This dish purchased from a local food stall)

Deer meat with spring onion. ( This dish is bought from a local food stall)

Curry Chicken cooked by eldest sis.

Mango Pudding. I think it is cheaper to buy off the shelves then to make it cause the ingredients are very expensive...hahaha but it tasted nicer than those sold outside. Oh, did I mention that this is made by me. (Making it is easy but the washing up after that is stressful....arggghh)

Homemade longan almond jelly...........this is eaten as a dessert and made by me. My siblings and family like this. From the above, you now know who is the best cook ie. my eldest sister....hehehe. I am good at desserts only.
