Da Dong Restaurant-Cantonese Dishes

This is the restaurant to look for traditional cantonese dishes. It is really good.

The birth of Da Dong Restaurant in 1928 illuminated Chinatown. It was fondly etched in people’s hearts for its distinguished reception, congenial services: not forgetting their delectable and exquisite traditional Cantonese fare. (For more information, please look at their official website.)

Crispy Roasted Chicken - a signature dish of Da Dong. It is really very tasty and yummy. I loved the crispy skin of the chicken and dip it in the fried salt and pepper (sorry forgot to take a photo of the salt and pepper.)

Da Dong homemade tofu with shredded scallop - this is also another signature dish of Da Dong. The tofu is so good.

Chee Cheong Fun

I love this chee cheong fun better than the one in Kreta Ayer Food Centre. The prawns in the chee cheong fun is huge and the gravy very good and tasty. Of course it is more expensive over here than at kreta ayer. The stall is located at the basement of Plaza Singapura and is easily spotted with all the dim sum, sorry cannot remember the name of the stall.

Shang Hai Chee Cheong Fun

The Kreta Ayer Food Centre had recently renovated and all the stalls had relocated to the centre from the temporary food centre at Outram Road.

The Chee Cheong Fun from this stall comes in 6 different fillings, ranging from Char Siew and Turnip to Mushroom.

We ordered some chee cheong fun and yam cake. Chee Cheong Fun is also known as rice noodle roll.

Bak Chang also known as zongzi. Inside the Bak Chang (made of glutinous rice) are ingredients such as chestnuts, pork, mushroom, etc.

Sunny Side Up Egg Agar Agar

made a sunny side up egg . It is not a real egg but made out of agar agar. The egg yolk is actually a half peach and the egg white is made of agar agar. Got this inspiration from a cooking show hosted by Chen Han Wei.
