Braised spare ribs with potatoes and carrots in slow cooker

Decided to braise pork spare ribs in the slow cooker.

Got some nice looking spare ribs from the wet market, about 500 gm of spare ribs.

Mixed with some minced onion, minced garlic and minced ginger.

Made a sauce or any BBQ sauce.

Marinated overnight.

Next morning, I just took the marinated spare ribs from the fridge and throw into the slow cooker. I placed some potatoes and carrots at the bottom of the slow cooker. Cooked on high for about 4 hours. After two hours, I opened the lid and turned the spare ribs over and continue to cook for another two hours (total 4 hours).

It was so yummy and easy to cook(the slow cooker do all the cooking), no messy kitchen.

Steamed Gourmet at Kopi Tiam Food Court Hougang Mall

During one of the weekend, hubby and me had lunch at Kopi Tiam Food Court Hougang Mall. Came across Steamed Gourmet and decided to eat steamed dishes for heathier choice.

Had their signature dish - Steamed sausages, chicken, mushroom set

Steamed Pork with salted fish but hardly felt any salted fish in the dish but instead got large chunks of the chestnut, wish they could minced the chestnut to smaller pieces (too chunky for senior citizen like us).

We added extra $2 to our total cost for this extra dish of steamed egg. ($1 for one person portion)

On the whole the meal were very tasty and filling for us. Good lunch.

Pizza Express at Scotts Square, Orchard Road, Singapore

Took these photos last month but did not have a chance to post them.

We had a family gathering with siblings and spouses. Decided to have some pizza for tea break at Pizza Express, they have large sitting area and able to cater to huge group.

Pizza Express was located at Scotts Square, Orchard Road.

I cant remember the names of the pizza cause they were ordered by my sister. I thought pizza normally comes in round shape, this rectangular pizza looked cute and tasted so good too. Was actually still quite full from lunch but was so tempted by the good looking pizza that I cant resist eating even though I was so full hahaha.

I had English Breakfast tea while the rest all ordered differently. (Did not take photos of their drinks.)

Steamed potatoes with canned braised penauts using the Electric Lunch Box

This is a very easy dish to make. Sliced the potatoes thinly, add a can of braised peanuts and mix together. Steamed them using my Electric Lunch Box. Added hot water to the base of the pot to quicken the cooking time and steam some fish too. But the fish was cooked just right but the potatoes were still not soft enough, so I removed my cooked fish, and recooked the potatoes the second time round but to remember to add hot water to the base of the pot cause the first round of cooking had already dried up the water in the base of the pot. The second time cooking was just right, the potatoes were very soft. Yummy.

Cooking Seah Emperor Herbs Chicken Spices using slow cooker

Bought a new Takahi Slow Cooker, I always thought slow cooker are for cooking porridge and soup only, realised we could roast or stew using the slow cooker, hahaha , learn all these from You Tube.

Decided to roast/stew chicken using Seah Emperor Herbs Chicken Spices in the slow cooker. The instructions on the back of the packet required steaming the chicken for two and half hours wrapped in the plastic and aluminium foil provided. I did not use the plastic and aluminium foil provided as I was cooking the chicken in the slow cooker.

Rub the chicken with spices all over and the inside too.

Optional, add mushroom, carrots, chestnuts, etc

I placed the carrots, at the bottom of the pot (see video) , then placed the chicken over the carrots. I forgot about my mushroom but added them later part in the cooking. No need to add any water.

Covered the pot and cooked high for 4 hours, if auto cooking or low, need about 6 to 8 hours.

Do not try to open the lid so often as it might affect the cooking time. I cooked for four hours on high but as I was still busy with my housework, I switched to auto for another half an hour.

Some gravy formed in the pot, did not add any water at all. The chicken was so soft and tender that the wings and drumstick fall apart as I was scooping from the pot to the serving bowl. I did some cosmetics and placed all the falling parts and make it presentable hahaha. Was so good and the chicken tasted so soft.

Electric Lunch Box

Just had a minor surgery, was so glad someone gave us this electric lunch box. Solve my problem of having some home cooked food when family members are not around to help me buy or prepare my meal.

Before cooking, steamed fish with spring onion and ginger and some light soya sauce

Before cooking, beat one egg with one and half shell of water.

It took so long to cook about 45 minutes, by adding hot water in the base of the box instead of room temperature water will quicken the cooking time as I read in some reviews. Will try the next time with hot water.

My final product, no messy kitchen.
