This is the traditional way of wrapping noodles in palm leaves. The palm leaves gave extra flavour to the noodles. But modernization had overtake the traditional way of wrapping food. The noodles nowadays are wrapped in plastic sheets and put in cardboard boxes.
But palm leaves are slowly making its way back here. Over at this zi char (means stir fry) stall at Block 203 Toa Payoh North, they are wrapping the noodles the traditional way and the queue is so scary.
If you go before 6 pm during weekends, the queue is about 1 hour but at 6 pm, it could be 2 hours or more. So we send my second sister and her hubby on a mission to get these noodles before 6 pm...lol
