Lunch at Chen's Mapo Tofu Restaurnat Nex

Cause of the pandemic, dining out is stressful, sometimes no dine in, sometimes two to dine in. Finally, we can have five to dine in. Hard to meet up with family or friends in big group.

Met up with some of my siblings and decided to have lunch at Chen's Mapo Tofu  Restaurant at Nex. The food was tasty and good.

We need to order and pay for the food first before they seat us.

Lunch at Soup Restaurant

We had lunch at Soup Restaurant. Since it is still Chinese New Year, we ordered Salmon Yusheng. This year will be different, is a muted affair. We are unable to shout out loud all the Yusheng chants. As we are still under Phase 3 of Covid 19 Pandemic, we can only gather in group of eight while dining and no shouting during the tossing of Yusheng. So sad, the chinese new year atmosphere is a quiet affair unlike other years. But there's no choice as this is to prevent the spread of the virus.

Just hope the situation will improve and we can have our normal lives back.

Old Cucumber soup with carrots using the thermal cooker pot

So excited to use my new Thermal Cooker Pot, is slightly bigger than my old thermal cooker pot which means I can add more ingredients to the pot to make delicious soup.

This time I make Old Cucumber Soup with carrots, I did not have to add any seasoning as all the ingredients make the soup very tasty.

Ingredients
300 to 400 gm Pork ribs
300 to 400 gm old cucumber
1 carrot
handful of dried scallops
handful of wolfberries (wash and soak)
few red dates (removed seeds)
dried squid
1200 ml water

Method

1. Wash and scrub old cucumber skin lightly (optional to cut away the skin if preferred)
2. Remove the seeds from the old cucumber and cut the old cucumber into slices
3. Cut the carrots diagonally
4. Boil and blanch the pork ribs and wash them
5. Add all the ingredients and pork ribs into the thermal pot and add water to cover the ingredients (I added around 1200 ml of water)
6. Boil the soup on medium heat for about twenty minutes.
7. During the last few minutes, add the wolfberries
8. Remove and place the inner thermal pot into the outer thermal pot and covered both lids of the pot and leave them to cook on their own for about three hours.
9. Serve hot

Very useful thermal pot and the best of it, it saves electricity and gas. Monthly bill reduce a lot haha.

Tsui Wah (翠華餐廳) at Orchard Road

Recently had lunch at Tsui Wah at The Heeren. It's a double storey restaurant and can choose to sit indoor (air con) or outdoor (no air con). It is connected to Robinson at The Heeren. But firstly, we need to get a queue number. We dont have to stand and queue. Just get our queue number via the queue machine and when there's a table they will call us on our handphone. It is so popular that we need to wait for almost 45 minutes. We can choose to dine indoor or outdoor, the number of people and whether to share table or not. We choose not to share table so there's a longer wait for two of us. When I was in Shenzhen, we also dine in Tsui Wah, it was bigger and no queue but the food is almost the same.

I choose the western set and get to have soup of the day (either pumpkin soup or beef soup) and toast bread and drink.

Hubby had Japanese Curry with pork cutlet and we ordered another dish of sweet and sour pork. But think we ordered too much haha.
