Hubby craved for beef hor fun so we ended up at our favourite zi char stall at Block 1 Balestier Hill Shopping Centre (opposite Thomson Medical Center).
Followed by a cup of tea with milk
We also ordered wonton noodle from a nearby stall but it was not that fantastic although it comes with a nice plate.

Da Zhong Guo in Chinatown Singapore
Da Zhong Guo pastry shop is famous for their nian gao during Chinese New Year and moon cake during moon cake festival. During these two festivals, queues can be expected at the shop. Da Zhong Guo has a very long history of selling pastry in chinatown.
I love the old fashioned cabinets and the shop was run by eldery boss and workers. Noticed those baskets on top of the cabinets. They are used during festivals or chinese festival. My mom had one of those traditional 3 tier baskets which was inherited by my brother.

High Tea Buffet at Chilli Padi Restaurant
My childhood friend, J and me were trying out the high tea buffet at Chilli Padi Restaurant. The price is quite cheap at only $8.60 (inclusive of service charge) but I wish they had more food.
The limited space for the buffet and the sitting arrangements are so close to each other that there are no privacy. The stranger next to you can listen to your conversation. I dont like the ambience in the restaurant.
Assorted Nonya Kuehs - yummy
Lotong to be taken with lemak (the lotong is a bit too hard)
Laksa (sour type like penang laksa not the singapore laksa)
Laksa
Chwee Kuay (a type of steam rice cake) and topped with chai poh (preserved vegetables)- this is very nice.
Curry Puffs
The only dish that looked very nonya to me must be the kuehs. I think the next time, I would have ala carte nonya at a nicer restaurant like the one in vivo city that I went to the last time.
